United Nations – On 5 June 2017, UNPA will issue six stamps to commemorate World Environment Day. The stamps showcase the environmental beauty of Canada’s landscape.

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on June 5 each year and is the United Nations’ principal means for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Over the years it has grown to be a broad, global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries. It also serves as the ‘people’s day’ for doing something positive for the environment, galvanizing individual actions into a collective power that generates a positive impact on the planet.

This year Canada is the host of World Environment Day, and the theme selected is “Connecting People to Nature”. This offers a great opportunity for Canada to highlight its rich natural environment and to profile the Government’s actions on environmental conservation.
