GUERNSEY – 50th Anniversary Of Concorde Silver Proof 50p – Silver Coin
2019 marks 50 years since the first flight of the legendary Concorde.
First flown in 1969, Concorde entered service in 1976 and continued flying for the next 27 years. It is one of only two supersonic transports to have been operated commercially. It had a maximum speed over twice the speed of sound at Mach 2.04 (1,354 mph).
.925 Solid Silver
Now, to commemorate this historic milestone, a stunning new British Isles Silver 50p Coin has been approved.
The 50th Anniversary of Concorde Silver Proof 50p will be struck from .925 Solid Silver to a pristine Proof finish – the best possible finish available on a coin.
The reverse will feature a specially commissioned engraved design of Concorde, by artist Andrew Harris, moments after take-off.
