Spain – Following the series initiated by Correos this year 2017, a new stamp is issued for the philatelic series 12 months, 12 stamps, 12 provinces. Each month, a Spanish province will be the protagonist of the stamp that will be used as the only type of postage for all shipments that are admitted in the offices of said province.

In this case, the stamp is dedicated to Cadiz. Following the line of this series, the stamp is represented by the letters CA, which represents the old license plates of vehicles in Spain. Within the letters, you can see significant elements of this land. The fan, a complement, although its origin is in the ancient Orient, is widely used in southern Spain on hot days or as a decorative element. The fauna is represented by the royal eagle, the most powerful of our eagles, widespread in the peninsula especially in the valley of the Guadalquivir.

The “pescaíto” friend fish, chocos, puntillitas or pijotas, battered in flour and fried in abundant oil, is one of the gastronomic emblems of Cadiz and symbol of the great raw material that the sea offers us. How can you not pair these delicacies with a good glass of fine wine with Denomination of Origin Jerez, known throughout the world and serving as appetizer, companion and even dessert.

The letter A is decorated with one of the most attractive corners of the Spanish coast, the beach of Caños de Meca, whose name has its origin in a source very famous in the Muslim era. This place is considered a reference point of the hippie movement in Spain.

The stamp completes an image that is repeated every summer on the beaches of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, right at the mouth of the river Guadalquivir, horse races that were declared in 1997 of International Touristic Interest. The inferior strip of the seal, where the name of the province appears, is of purple color in allusion to the banner of Cadiz capital.
