Spain – Within the series that Correos dedicates for years to Spanish cinema, two stamps are presented honoring two great artists of the seventh art, Lina Morgan and Vicente Aranda.

As it did last year with Amparo Rivelles and Luis Mariano, this series aims to highlight the trajectory of these two characters that have left an indelible mark on the history of cinema.

Lina Morgan, (María de los Ángeles López Segovia) was one of the most recognized and beloved Spanish actresses by the public. Born in Madrid in March 1937, she always lived in the beautiful neighborhood of La Latina. In the 60’s she began to have small roles in cinema and became a box-office phenomenon with half a dozen titles as the main protagonist. She managed to create her own character, far from the canons of the time. Later she would dedicate herself to television and theater, becoming the owner of the mythical Teatro de la Latina.

The stamp collects a beautiful image of the actress along with a small drawing of the silhouette of one of her most remembered characters, that of village girl newly arrived in the city.

Vicente Aranda, was born in Barcelona in 1926. He lived in Venezuela where he worked as a computer scientist and became a filmmaker “late on” at the age of 39. His films were characterized by having a clearly erotic character, but also, showed a vision of life and bitter Spain, realistic, intelligent and scathing.

They were all a success films like La muchacha de las bragas de oro, La pasión turca, Amantes or las dos dedicadas al Lute, that had the unanimous endorsement of the public and the critics.

His life and his work, always had that perfectionist character but also with a point of humor that came through the screens.

In this stamp the aim has been to emulate the style of the old “posters” painted by hand and that decorated the facades of the main cinemas of the capital.
